3 Benefits of Owning a Vacation Home on Fort Myers Beach

Do you love the beach? Do you go on vacation every year? Have you ever though about investing in a vacation home in Fort Myers Beach? Instead of renting a home from someone else or staying in a hotel every time you travel to Florida, you could have a place to call your own. Today's blog discusses some of the biggest benefits to owning a second home in Fort Myers Beach, FL.

1. Always Have a Place to Stay for YOUR Vacation.

One of the main benefits of owning a vacation home on Fort Myers Beach is that you always have a place to come to when you're ready for a beach vacation. Need an escape from the cold up north? Want to take the kids out of town for some family bonding over summer break? You don't have to go online and hunt around for a place to stay that meets the needs of your family. You'll have a place to call your own, where you can make memories with friends and family. (Plus, if you're wanting to eventually retire in Florida, this move can give you a head start!)

2. Make Some Extra Income to Offset Expenses.

Another big advantage to owning a second home is the ability to generate some extra income. This rental income can help offset your costs of owning a vacation home. When you buy a Fort Myers Beach vacation property, you can rent it out other guests when you aren't using it. The money you make from those reservations can help you pay the mortgage, property taxes, insurance, maintenance, etc. for the place where you spend your vacations.

3. Build Value Through Appreciation.

Real estate is generally a good investment option. Over time, it typically will appreciate in value. When you are ready to sell your vacation property, you can usually sell it at a higher price and cash out on the profit. In addition, you have the ability to make modifications and improvements to increase the value of your home, therefore pushing up the market value even more.

If you're interested in purchasing property on Fort Myers Beach, we can connect you with some of the best real estate agents that we know and trust because we work with them on a regular basis. Once you've found the perfect property, Sea Gypsy Vacation Rentals can help you with that extra income by finding you quality guests! The best part is, we take care of all the details, from finding the renters to taking the payments and paying the taxes. Contact us today by calling 239-463-0078!

5 Holiday Travel Tips

Christmas and New Years are just around the corner. People all across the country will be traveling, and that means the airports and roads are going to be busy! There's no need to stress though. We've got a list of holiday travel tips that will help you get down here to beautiful Fort Myers Beach without too much chaos. Keep reading for Sea Gypsy Vacation Rentals' tips for traveling this holiday season.

1. Travel at Off-Peak Times.

If possible, try to travel on off-peak days, and travel early or late in the day. If flying, consider departing on the actual holiday, as most people will have left the day before. The airport will likely still be busy, but not as bad. Traveling at odd times, such as early in the morning or late at night can also help you avoid the longest lines. In addition, flight statistics show that planes traveling earlier in the day have a better on-time performance. If you're driving, the best time to hit the road is when others are sleeping, so again early in the morning or late at night. You can always take a nap at  your destination, or if you have a second driver, you can switch off.

2. Head to the Airport Early.

During the holiday season, you're almost sure to see extra long lines at the airport. Checking your bags will take extra time, and so will going through security. There's nothing more stressful than feeling like you might miss your flight because you're stuck in a line. Plan on arriving at the airport extra early. Even if you get there and the lines are surprisingly short, you can relax at the gate knowing that you aren't going to miss your flight. If you're planning to park at the airport, consider getting an advance parking reservation.

3. Be Prepared for Delays.

Whether you are flying or driving to your destination, be prepared for delays. Holiday traffic on the roads or flight delays could have you waiting around a lot. Bring snacks, water, music, books, etc. to keep you entertained in case you get stuck somewhere for an extended period of time. Be sure to have your phone fully charged as well so you can communicate with friends and family about any delays.

4. Ship Your Gifts.

If you're going to be flying to your destination for the holidays, you're better off shipping your gifts instead of bringing them with you. Amazon, Walmart, Target, etc. can deliver your gifts to your destination and then you can wrap them once you arrive. This is much easier than dragging all that stuff on your flight with you. If you do travel with gifts, don't wrap them, as security may unwrap them to take a peak at what's inside. Be sure to pad and pack the gifts carefully in your suitcase, as those bags get tossed around a lot. When flying internationally, be sure to check any rules of bringing food or other items that might be confiscated.

5. Remember to Breathe.

Travel can be stressful, especially during the holidays. Remember to breathe, and be nice to people. They're likely just as stressed as you. If things don't go as planned, try to stay calm. Losing your temper is not going to help the situation. Airline employees don't usually respond well to anger, and  you could end up making the situation worse. Whatever the issue, it will likely make for a great story later!

No matter what happens during your travels this holiday season, just keep the end in mind. Eventually you'll be out of the cold and relaxing on the soft sugary sand under the beautiful Florida sun! Sea Gypsy Vacation Rentals is the place to stay this season, we've got just a couple Fort Myers Beach vacation homes left for Christmas and New Years, so call to book today if you haven't already! Happy Holidays!

3. Prepare Some Meals at Home.

There's no shortage of great restaurants on Fort Myers Beach, but that doesn't mean you have to eat out every meal while on vacation. Sometimes you just want to whip up something quick to take for a snack on the beach or have an outdoor BBQ with family and friends. Most of our properties come complete with a full kitchen, and many of them have a BBQ grill for preparing meals outdoors, as well. Save some money while on vacation by choosing to stay somewhere with a kitchen!

4. Bring Your Pets.

Most hotels don't allow you to bring your furry friends along for the vacation, but you don't have to leave them out when you choose to stay with Sea Gypsy Vacation Rentals. The majority of our properties are pet friendly! Just let us know you plan on bringing them with you, and for a small pet fee, they can stay with you in one of our many Fort Myers Beach vacation homes! 5 Reasons to Visit Fort Myers Beach

When choosing where to go on vacation, you have a lot of options. So how do you make a decision? If you're looking for a fun beach vacation, then look no further than Fort Myers Beach! Keep reading for a few reasons why you should visit Fort Myers Beach for your next beach getaway.

1. To Enjoy the Soft, White Sand Beach.

When it comes to beaches, we have some of the best in the United States right here in Southwest Florida. When you arrive at Fort Myers Beach, you'll find a family-friendly beach covered in soft, white sand. It's great for the kids to play in and the adults to lay out and relax. Soak up as much of that Florida sunshine as you can while you're here. (But don't forget the sunscreen!) Your 4-legged friends are sure to enjoy it too!

2. To Partake in Fun & Thrilling Watersports.

While laying in the sun can be great when you just want to relax, Fort Myers Beach has so much more to offer. There's no shortage of watersports here. From boat and jet ski rentals to kayaking and paddle boarding, you've got a variety of ways to explore the beautiful Gulf of Mexico and other Southwest Florida waterways. Look down over the gulf waters while parasailing or charter a boat for an unforgettable dolphin tour!

3. To Catch Some Big Fish.

If you enjoy fishing, then Fort Myers Beach is the perfect destination for you! You can catch a variety of fish right here on the island or charter a boat for a deep sea fishing excursion. Light tackle and back bay fishing are excellent at Bowditch Point on the north end of the island. While inshore fishing, you can catch snook, redfish, spotted seatrout, sheepshead and more. Offshore, you'll be able to find shark, grouper, bonito, barracuda, permit, black fin tuna, cobia, and Spanish and king mackerel.

4. To Hangout at Awesome Restaurants and Bars.

Whether you're in search of a refreshing beverage or in need of a bite to eat, you're sure to find something to enjoy on Fort Myers Beach. Dozens of restaurants and bars line the beach, offering not only great food and drink, but great views of the Gulf of Mexico. Enjoy live music at a variety of locations or catch the big game! You'll have no problem finding a great spot to hangout for the night here on Fort Myers Beach.

5. To Relax and View the Amazing Sunsets.

People who've experienced a sunset over the gulf waters just can't stop talking about the view! There's no better place to watch the sun go down than on our beautiful beach.
